Standard Gas Flow Converter
Convert Nm³/h, Sm³/h and SCFM with reference-condition corrections.
Inputs
Note: Nm³/h (0°C), Sm³/h (15°C) and SCFM (60°F) differ by ~5% due to different reference temperatures. Values shown are temperature-corrected.
About Standard Gas Flow Units
- Unlike liquid flow, gas flow must be referenced to specific conditions (pressure and temperature) because gases are compressible. Standard and normal flow rates express the volumetric flow as if the gas were at a defined reference condition.
- Nm³/h (Normal cubic metre per hour) uses 0°C (273.15 K) and 101.325 kPa as reference, per ISO/IEC 80000 and European industrial standards. Sm³/h uses 15°C (288.15 K) per ISO 13443 for natural gas transmission.
- SCFM (Standard Cubic Feet per Minute) uses 60°F (15.56°C = 288.71 K) and 14.696 psia per US standards (ASME, API). The ~5% difference from Nm³ arises from the 15°C temperature difference between reference conditions.
- Quick reference: 1 Nm³/h ≈ 1.0549 Sm³/h ≈ 0.6222 SCFM · 1 Sm³/h ≈ 0.9479 Nm³/h ≈ 0.5897 SCFM · 1 SCFM ≈ 1.6075 Nm³/h ≈ 1.6960 Sm³/h.
